Hey hey Reader!
We've wrapped up Q1, which means your feed is about to be — or already is — flooded with revenue screenshots, "my best quarter yet" posts, and enough confetti graphics to last a lifetime. And listen, good for them, truly.
But I won't be adding to that pile.
Partly because it's not y'all's business lol. But mostly because I know what it feels like to be on the other side of those posts, stuck in that comparison spiral, quietly doing math on someone else's numbers while completely ignoring your own wins.
And yes yes, I know that comparison is the THIEF of joy, but I don't have a problem admitting that at some point in my biz I found myself comparing my business, my goals, my wins, my progress - to a peer because they were showing off their "6-figure launch" or "highest ticket client signed ever".
So here's your reminder before you go down that rabbit hole:
- Hoes be lying.
- You have no idea what they did — or sacrificed — to reach that success.
Now that we've established that, let's talk about what you should actually be doing right now instead:
Book the trip. Had a solid revenue month? Go somewhere. It doesn't have to be a whole international situation — a long weekend somewhere new or even a staycation where you fully unplug counts. You worked for that money, let it work for your nervous system too.
Buy yourself the thing. Stayed under budget last month? That's genuinely impressive and deserves more than a mental pat on the back. Get the thing you've been talking yourself out of. The bag, the fancy dinner, the spa day — whatever feels like a treat to you.
Take the extra days off. If you went hard last quarter, your calendar should reflect that. Block some time off that isn't a holiday, isn't a "slow day," and doesn't involve you checking Slack every 20 minutes. Just actual rest because you earned it.
(Bonus tip: Mute them. I mute almost all of my peers on socials. Not to be rude or anything but to protect my own peace, so do what you gotta do.)
The screenshots will keep coming. Someone will always have a bigger number, a shinier launch, or a more impressive graphic. That's just how this goes, right? But none of that has anything to do with what you've built, what you've survived, or where you're headed.
Go celebrate yourself, damnit.
